Another enjoyable boat trip with SENSE, sun shining but a bit cold. Selly Oak to Birmingham and back, saw lots of wild life then a wander around Centenary square and a chance to sit in the garden and admire the view from the library; huge thanks to the carers Bev, Emma, Glen and Simmy who also helped with steering. Many thanks to Janelle for inviting us to participate in the annual Weoley Castle Earth Day Festival held at Castle Square. Thanks also to Simon for arranging our participation with support from John and Hugh. We were blessed with beautiful weather, a constant stream of visitors, interested to learn about our restoration plans, and lots of interesting complimentary stalls. After a break the Lapal Canal Trust was very pleased to resume their monthly canal trips for SENSE, meeting by SENSE HQ in Selly Oak and along the Worcester & Birmingham canal to visit the Ikon gallery before returning to Selly Oak, the promised rain held off and SENSE day service group and their brilliant carers had a great day out. Busy week, we were very pleased to be invited by Michele Hancock to give a presentation to the Clent Community and Social club The club was formed in 1886 and they were keen to learn about the restoration of the Dudley No 2 Canal. Lots of interesting questions with many having knowledge of the canal, one lady recounted a story about prisoners of war helping to clear the canal near Netherton, she was 5 at the time, so a remarkable memory.
